Curiosity kills the cat
She was a girl of eight years. Her years had got all the qualities that she was as she was. Her braided –pony tailed hair, curious big eyes that could tell the tale of its own and her smiley face lighted up the smiles in most of the wrinkled –smile forgotten face.
Being an only child of the family, she was the darling girl of her dad until recent years. Her needs were fulfilled in an instant. She was not only pampered child in the family but also among the teacher due to her talkativeness. There was nothing that the child sets her eyes on, be bought to her for her self amusement.
Her house was quite far from the town in a lonely area surrounded by trees and bushes. At times her imagination would make those trees as a real people and she used to talk non-stop with them sharing her daily routines and the happenings of her school.
The time like always was passing in its own pace. She knew how to read and write and used to read the hoarding boards in the city which were surrounded by beautiful models while she was on the way to-and back from the school.
She remembers vividly the day when she received a very harsh beating from her father once, which not only turned her relationships with dad as a scattered pieces of dreams. She was only seven then. It so happened that, once while she was returning from her school, she saw something written in a wall with a big handwriting. She could not decipher the meaning of the word written in it. So the intrigued little girl copied the word in her copy and thought of asking her papa the meaning of the word once she gets back home. But along the way, she got her attraction distracted on various other objects of amusements that made her compelled to forget what she had written in her copy.
It so turned out that in the evening, as the child was chatting away with her mother, the father, as a responsible parent was scanning the copies of the child. While scanning, his eyes fell on the words she had inscribed on her copy. The father got red in anger and madness. He stomped into the room where the child and the mother were sitting and without any questioning, started thrashing the child cats and blue. His beating resembled the way that he used to beat his own wife. There was no time at all that the child could find out as to why she was receiving this thrashing. It was only later that the child came to find out the reason behind such severe thrashing. The attitude of the father towards her child had changed completely. The reason behind to happen was the two words that the child had copied in her note-book. Those two words were foul and unpardonable vulgar word.
‘I saw it in one of the walls and was curious about it. So I wrote it down to ask you for its meaning papa, the child tried to convince. ‘ I can take you to the wall where it is written.’ The child whimpered a little more.
This only infuriated the father even more. A child asking the meaning of such words ? He could not have any patience to explain such words to her own daughter. The hard hearted father was by no means convinced that the words she wrote was written unintentionally.
